Chinese Jadesby Ming Wilson is one of the most accessible reference books on Chinese Jade out there unless you read Chinese. Wilson provides n up-to-date introduction to jade and his writing is both helpful and engaging.

Another by Dr. Shen Fu, This book is an absolute must read for anyone interested in 29th century Chinese Art, and is one of the best reference books on Chang Dai-chien ( Zhang Daqian ) arguably one of the most important modern Chinese painters and the last of the true "Literati Painters".
The New Chinese Painting
by Joan Lebold Cohen is the perfect introduction to truly "Modern" Chinese Painting. It picks up the history of Chinese painting with the great turn of the century Chinese Master Painters, ie. Qi Baishi, Zhang Daqian, Fu Baoshi, Xu Beihong, etc; and brings us into the present.
